Primary Care and Commissioner Acute Kidney Injury Workshop

24/03/2015

Primary Care Workshop flyer

Accredited by RCGP, the Think Kidneys Primary and Commissioner workshop will build on the work already done following the patient safety alert issued in June 2014 which mandated all secondary care providers to include the standardised acute kidney injury warning grade algorithm into their pathology laboratory information systems. The electronic alerts identifying patients with AKI being received in primary care need an appropriate response to ensure the best outcome for the patient.

This one day, interactive workshop will explore what is generally understood about AKI in primary care, and what information, educational resources and support the Think Kidneys programme can provide to help primary care prevent and manage AKI to reduce harm and improve patient care and treatment.

If you work in primary care or commissioning please join us for this exciting workshop on 24 March at The Studio, Birmingham, B2 5EP, where we will consider

  • Acute kidney injury, what it is and how it can be managed in primary care
  • Some real case studies, ideas and examples where the alerts and responses are working well and the impact this is having
  • The need for improvement and how to determine the important actions to engage, educate and encourage changes in practice primary and community care
  • Shaping the work of the national programme.

Our intention is that this exchange of ideas will provide a firm basis to develop an appropriate care package for primary care.
