New Recruits Needed for the UKRR Patient Council

The UK Renal Registry (UKRR) wants to ensure that patients are at the heart of everything they do. Over the last two years they have established a Patient Council and are now looking for new members to join. If you are a kidney patient or the relation or carer of a kidney patient, you might like to think about joining.

The Patient Council:

  • Gets involved in new programmes of work that aim to improve the experience and outcomes for patients
  • Helps produce new patient information – leaflets, reports and posters
  • Supports the UKRR on issues relating to information governance – how data is managed and used, and patient consent
  • Discussed new research and survey proposals and use of the Renal Centres’ data
  • Encourages discussion between patients and clinicians to promote patient involvement in Renal Centres as well as regionally and nationally.

Your commitment to the Patient Council would be attendance and participation at the quarterly meetings (travel costs are met). Current members tell say that being involved is rewarding.

Being a member will give you:

  • Personal development: members will be offered opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in areas relating to the Council’s role and activities
  • Personal satisfaction by making a much valued contribution to the work of the UKRR and making sure that patient care is at the heart of everything that the UKRR does
